Representing the regions of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Västernorrland, and Jämtland Härjedalen, a delegation from Northern Sweden took part in European Hydrogen Week in Brussels. Together, we represented a larger part of Sweden – united by a shared vision for green industrial transformation. The visit highlighted our region’s position as a frontrunner in green hydrogen and a key player in Europe’s green transition.
At the North Sweden Pavilion, we showcased innovation, sustainability, and the strong industrial backbone that sets our region apart. With abundant renewable energy, skilled workforces, and deep expertise in energy-intensive industries, Northern Sweden is ready to lead the shift toward a low-carbon future.
Throughout the week, attention was drawn to our region’s role in EU energy policy, upcoming hydrogen legislation, and growing interest in cross-border collaboration.
Companies like SSAB, LKAB, and Vattenfall, together with local and regional actors, shared concrete examples of how hydrogen is transforming industrial processes – attracting strong interest from European stakeholders looking for long-term partnerships.
The momentum is clear. Northern Sweden is committed to expanding its hydrogen ecosystem and continuing to shape Europe’s energy transition.
